Jessica Milstead is the owner of Asguardian Doberman Kennels. She has experience as a dog trainer, animal control officer, and has had many years experience with many dog breeds, including America Pit Bull Terriers and Doberman Pinschers. Dobermans are her heart breed, and upon learning of how much help the breed needs, she decided to start breeding dogs that will improve blood lines, decrease incidence of genetic disorders, lower coefficient of inbreeding, and increase the lifespan of the breed in general. It is a big order for one person, but every puppy bred according to ethical breeding standards, proper veterinary care, proper socialization and training, as well as sharing information about the problems and the ways to address them are all steps in the right direction.
Her goal is to increase the lifespan of each generation, decrease the COI, and breed dogs that are free of genetic based illnesses.
Jami Ortiz has been friends with Jessica since 2015, when they worked together as animal control officers. This experience gave both women a view into the world of what happens when ethical breeding is ignored, and the suffering that can come from humans who place themselves above the well being of their pets.
Jami is the webmaster and helps with some of the documentation and office work, while Jessica is hands on with every dog, every breeding, ensuring that her dogs are the best she can possibly produce.
Our goal is to produce a strong European Doberman Pinscher line with an emphasis on healh above all else, temperament and conformation tying for second place. The Doberman Pinscher breed is in danger, the breed is plagued with dogs with health issues such as: dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), von Willebrand Disease (vWD), hypothyroidsm, hip dysplasia, chronic active hepatitis (CAH), cervical vertebral instability (Wobbler Syndrome), gastric dilation and volvulus syndrome (GDV and Bloat), as well as eye problems.
Many of these issues have a genetic component, so all of our dogs have full OFA screening and are registered with CHIC. If one of our breeding dogs develops any of the genetic illnesses, we immediately stop breeding that dog, inform all who have purchased puppies from that dog as well as anyone involved in the production of that dog (if it was not one we bred ourselves). For us, this is how we improve the breed.
We cannot guarantee that all of our puppies will stay healthy and free of any concerns, but we do everything we can to ensure that any problems that may arise are not because of how the dogs are bred.

We have a small kennel in Lacombe, Louisiana. Jessica breeds dogs out of her home, where they grow up inside the house, socialized with children, different people, and learn how to be pets as well as working companions.
Unless an outside stud is used, all the dogs reside on the same property and are worked with throughout each day.
Unfortunately, due to it being her home, tours of the facility are not available.
